New Year's 2002 (and New Year's Eve 2001) pictures... lots of fun, although one of the slowest-starting parties I've thrown in ages. Thursday and Friday weekend were to proven sufficiently crazy to end any doubts about the New Year, though. Fun is to be had, if you can find it!

A break from birthdays-- Toyota Put It In Play event at the Rosebowl in Pasadena, then the California International Auto Show-- or at least the little corner that I worked! The few pictures from Halloween at Joycelyn's and Election Night at Sophia and Carley's are here. The break from birthday is over-- Kim and Cheston's birthday dinner. The following weekend is a few pictures from an Ars meet at the Getty. We're back at Buca di Beppo for Thomas and Umi's birthday.

New Year's Eve 2004 pictures from Mike/Chris/Henri's party. Fun times, fun times, just wish I could remember everyone's name! Tara's birthday at Curry House in West LA. Dinner with Sophia and friends. 2005 Los Angeles Auto Show pictures from two separate visits to the show-- yes, it's a crazy amount of pictures. GM Autoshow In Motion and many other things on a very busy weekend in January. An incredible 24"-48" snowpack at Big Bear meant we couldn't resist the urge to go skiing!
Take two of the Autoshow In Motion along with Mike's birthday pics lead off February. The big yearly ski trip this season is to Mammoth, which is in turn followed up by a trip to a wee little hill called Mt. Baldy the next weekend. Instead of sleeping in, dim sum was the next day.
Beginning of March is a rare visit to Hollywood with Joel and his friends, then Nathan's Birthday over in Chinatown, and finally out with Barry the following day, at an Evo meet and then dinner in Hermosa Beach.
April is U2 in Anaheim. A break fron concerts- hiking in La Canada Flintridge to Strawberry Trail. We dive straight back into more U2, this time at Staples Center. Ever heard a concert every 5 days? The third one for April is Garbage! (and now hopefully my ears get a break for a while...). Carley's performance in the Loyola Law School Talent Show follows, then Shing and DeAnne's wedding (!) in Houston.
End of April/start of May is a Saturday hiking at Millard Falls and then the Museum of Contemporary Art, while Sunday is at Coachella. Two Erasure shows end the spring concert madness, Avalon on Saturday and then The Grove on Wednesday.

Phoenix Ars Meet, then Memorial Day weekend.
First June event, out with Eileen and her friends. Then the June birthday storm arrives. First up is Sophia, second is Brian, and the third is Carley. Unfortunately, I had to skip Erik's birthday this year. =( A change of pace is UCLA Graduation and then a big change: outdoor rock climbing.
Barry's birthday leads off July. Fourth of July actually came a few days before. Grace's birthday and then Garbage at the Orange County Fair are the next two things, then a return to Stoney Point because Joe's moving away and we just can't get enough rock climbing!
August starts quickly. Bill's birthday, swing dancing at Swingfish, and then Margaret's birthday along with a night out with Barry and his old coworkers. A modest hiking trip up Mt. Baldy turns out to be a brutal one, but we made it! Camelot at the Hollywood Bowl. Jennifer and Steven's wedding in Berkeley. Jen Cruz is a high school friend who I haven't seen in a long time, probably since college. And now she's married. Eeep! More stuff on the final weekend, lots of eating and then hiking Strawberry Peak.
Kim's moving-away dinner. She's leaving us to go to med school! Ahhh! Ars Technica meet of the Northern California group over Labor Day weekend. Mid-Autumn Festival dinner. Thanks to Sophia for organizing! Los Angeles area Ars meet in West Covina. Moving weekend followed by a quick night of minature golf.
October marks the first major party at Constant's new place. Not content to party on Friday and into Saturday, we rock climb at Point Dume the next day. Concert madness, birthdays, and football madness mark the second weekend of October. The third weekend of October is a Stoney Point followed by a massive SoCal Ars meet. Things get busy the last week, with Sudeep's birthday and then Justin's birthday. Halloween gets compressed into a single gallery, somehow!
November is more moving, U2 insanity in Vegas and the second (and final) dose of U2 insanity (for this tour) in Oakland. Daniel and Erick's birthday, hiking up Mt. San Jacinto with the usual suspects, and a Taste of Lexus driving event in Orange County make for a very long weekend. The next weekend isn't quite as full, but dinner with Jianhui and Kean, then Thomas and Umi's birthday ensure it's full of food! November wraps up with Thanksgiving weekend and Joyceyln's birthday.
Snow marks December. Skidazzle on Thursday, then off to Mammoth the next day, then the next weekend is Big Bear. Jian-hui's going-away party and then Alicia's birthday follow. Christmas weekend beings with rock climbing at Stoney and then a very large collection of pictures over Christmas.
New Year's Eve 2005 pictures from Mike/Chris/Henri's party. Yes, we love it so much, we keep going back! Two days later is dim sum and the shooting range, then back to Northern California to go to Tahoe. Swing dancing at Sugarfoot Stomp follows after Tahoe does-- clearly not the best idea, but who needs sleep! Tara and Chris' birthdays start off the next weekend. Adriana's birthday follows the next day. The weekend afterwards is almost as busy with dinners (Chili's and Rambutan Thai) and clubbing (Zanzibar). Dinner at Ragin' Cajun' with Barry and friends.
The completion of scuba lessons (PADI Open Water) off of Catalina marks the start of February. Not too many February birthdays-- just Amy's and Mike's. President's Day weekend is in Lake Tahoe, then the following weekend's meals.
Malaysia marks the beginning of April. Then... April is a trip to Venice Beach. Then the usual favorite activity for exercise: indoor climbing at UCLA followed by outdoor climbing at Echo Cliffs. Plus, at least around here, the almost-forgotten swing dancing for Angela's birthday.
May begins with a barrage of Erasure concerts and then visit from Joe and a return to Stoney Point. As though two straight nights of concerts and a follow-up day of climbing aren't enough, partying and climbing continues with Nick's birthday and climbing at Tick Rock that weekend. Five straight days of going out gets a break til the next Friday for Bej's birthday in k-town. The weekend madness continues as I hop back on an airplane for Gina's graduation from Cal. May finally wraps up with Alan's graduation and Memorial Day weekend at Barry's place.
June starts with Nick and Emily's engagement party, plus dim sum with Maria. Birthdays continue with Brian's birthday and hiking, then surviving large amounts of alcohol for a trip to Stoney Point the next day. We finish birthdays with a triple birthday at the end of June.
Fireworks and other fun mark 4th of July. Massive amounts of hot weather and alcohol mark Barry's birthday in Vegas. Then some semi-random pictures from, well, random places in Los Angeles Not-random-at all is pictures from Leif-Eric's dinner in Westwood.
Roadtrip to New York in August. Earlier in August was BBQ and Karaoke and Joel's visit. The rest of August is... well, busy in NYC.
September is rock climbing at Stoney Point and the UCLA vs. Rice game, then hiking Mt. Wilson. Follow it up with dim sum and rock climbing at Malibu Creek. Hiking Calabasas Peak and the Dodger game where Thomas sang the national anthem was also lots of fun. Dinner pictures with old coworkers. September finishes off with Viet's Birthday and UCLA vs. Stanford football.
October begins with a trip to LACMA, then smack in the middle of the month is Billy and Amy's wedding! Random food with Korean BBQ and Oktoberfest. The end of the month is hiking San Gorgonio and Halloween that Saturday, with a visit to West Hollywood on Halloween itself.
November starts quietly. Bej's bachelor party, followed up with Pet Shop Boys at The Wiltern LG. Football continues with UCLA vs. OSU and the Taste of Lexus event the same weekend. Then some birthdays at work. Wine tasting part 1, followed by part 2 for good measure just a day later. Then... Thanksgiving weekend! November ends out with grad students again.
December starts with Tick Rock/Doug's birthday/Kean's visit in the same gallery, then Frances and Jenn's birthday. Bej and Weixian's wedding in Las Vegas. Birthdays! Alicia's birthday, at least. Pictures from West LA including Rockreation and Sawtelle Blvd with the Tsais. And the last for 2006-- Christmas, including the Emerald Bowl: FSU. vs. UCLA.
New Year's Eve 2006 in Tahoe. Hanging around with Viet/Billy/Cheston/etc. plus an Ars meet. Off to the freezing land of Chicago just hours before Keezer's bachelor party. Dinner with Leif in K-town, then Nick Keezer and Emily's wedding a few days later. Dinner again with friends, this time in the Bay Area.
February appears to be good for one thing: skiing at Mammoth, not once but twice! Then food! - specifically lots of seafood. Mmmm seafood.
Concerts open March. At least one, anyway: Snow Patrol at Gibson Ampitheater. Skiing at Big Bear-- well Snow Summit to be specific. Pearl's housewarming party at her new place. Leif-Eric and Eun-Young's dinner at Versailles. The theme is food, Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse, then Sushi Masu. China and Hong Kong trip concludes March.
The NCAA Basketball Tournament leads off April, with UCLA vs. Florida in the Final Four. Random stuff hanging out with Pearl, including UCLA Football's Spring Scrimmage. Some rock climbing at Echo Cliffs the next day. Dim sum twice the next weekend, then helping Pearl move. A mid-week trip to UCSB follows. April concludes with a busy weekend: a visit from Erik and scuba diving off Anacapa Island.
May begins with Mike's Birthday and then lots of food: tofu and dim sum, with rock climbing and helping Pearl move in-between! The third weekend of May is Carley's graduation and the UCLA Run/Walk, May 24 is a UCLA dinner, while the last weekend of May is camping at Lassen Volcanic National Park. Shen's birthday concludes May.
June is lead off with birthdays: Bej/Sophia's the first weekend, then Brian's the second weekend. Leif-Eric and Eun-Young plan dinner again, this time at Flame in Westwood, followed by cake. Out on Sunset Blvd with Peter and his UCLA Medicine residents. More food weekends- with Korean tofu, pastrami at The Hat, and Hakata Ramen.
July starts with Kwik-E-Mart! Then dinner at Pearl's, followed by Fourth of July the next day! Sherry and David's wedding on 7/7/07. Hiking the next day to San Gabriel Peak/Mt. Disappointment proved to be a nice little morning jaunt. On the other hand, Smith Mountain was definitely not a nice morning jaunt. Seeing Wicked is next. Mickey's visit combined with Annie and Bill's birthday conclude July.
August starts off with a barbeque at Barry's and a ton of random pictures from UCLA/Westwood mixed in with a trip to the Ahmanson. Trip to the East Coast finishes off August-- New York and Pennsylvania.
Labor Day weekend in September is spent in Yosemite, camping and hiking. Playing with Sam's camera and a new Canon 24/1.4L on Friday before the weekend. The weekend-- Saturday is UCLA vs. Washington with tailgating beforehand, partying, and Sam's visit, while Sunday is at Huntington Gardens with Sam and Sophia, then Underworld and Paul Oakenfold at Hollywood Bowl. Sam's visit days 3 and 4 highlight rock climbing at Stoney Point, Santa Monica and the beach. Sam's visit day 4 is wandering Japantown and downtown LA with cameras. *grins* Day 8 is MOCA, Grand Central Market, and Nextfest; plus some random Korean BBQ pictures thrown in. A trip to the Bay Area for an Ars meet follows, then Cecile's birthday. Rock climbing at Mystery Science Theater finishes off a very busy September.
October is just as busy, with Justin visiting for the Japanese Classic Car Show on Saturday (and then the UCLA game...). Friday was spent wandering Los Angeles, and Sunday had some wandering plus the Ferraris at the Petersen Automotive Museum before he left. Alpine Village's little Oktoberfest, plus Billy and Simon's birthdays fill up the following weekend. Two weeks in South Korea and China finish off October and the first day of November (for Leif and Eun-young's wedding in Seoul, John and Weixian's wedding in Nanjing).
November starts off with a visit to Pink's Hotdog Stand in Hollywood, then wine tasting, take 2 at Irina's. The second Saturday in November is UCLA vs. ASU, plus Billy and Amy's housewarming party. The next weekend is throughly food related with dim sum and a birthday dinner (old time Maxima club members, then Heather C.'s birthday). Thanksgiving weekend includes cousin Jason's wedding. Birthday dinner for the Hacketts followed up by Joycelyn's birthday wrap up November.
December starts off with the SSC Holiday Party. Rock climbing at Malibu Creek, followed by Alicia's birthday and a work lunch, then two dinners, one with Leif-Eric and Eun-young, the other for Jenn's birthday. Back to Northern California for Christmas.
New Year's Eve 2007 at Mike/Chris/Henry's. Vacation! China starts off 2008. Beijing and Hong Kong this time. Rock climbing at Malibu Creek, take 3, and Tara's birthday follow.
Going-away party for Ulrich at Westwood BrewCo, Francis and Camille's engagement party plus Superbowl Sunday playing Rock Band, then a quick Ars meet at Barney's Beanery in Hollywood. Follow it up with more outings with Pearl: Ruth Chris' Steakhouse for DineLA Restaurant week, plus Magic Mountain. Rock climbing at Echo Cliffs, take 3, then more climbing (UCLA Dangling Bruin) combined with Amy's visit. President's Day weekend in Mammoth. February ends with visiting Keith and the new Chipotle in Westwood.
March leads off with take 4 of rock climbing at Echo Cliffs, then the Star Trek Tour in Long Beach. Pearl's birthday follows. Cheston and Angie's wedding in the middle of the month. Hiking Devil's Chair makes for a fun day trip. A walking tour of Los Angeles' historic core wraps up March.
April's first gallery is an Ars meet and a UCLA Final Four party. One very busy weekend consists of: Will Foster's birthday + UCLA Run/Walk 5K + dim sum. Exploring the Petersen automotive museum again. Days full of food: pictures at Gyu-kaku, Spoon House, and with Kean at Bonchon. Leif-Eric's dinner at Hodori on Friday. Stoney Point bouldering on Saturday. The weekend finishes off with Movie night and dim sum on Saturday night and Sunday morning, respectively.
May starts off with UCLA Staff Assembly's Casino Night, then the weekend following is JPL Open House, the Santa Monica Classic, and lunch at Newport Seafood in San Gabriel. Hanging out with Maria and then dinner at Sushi Masu occupy Thursday. Bouldering in Bishop is the second weekend in May, followed up by dinner with Maria and friends. Busy Saturday: hiking Mt. Baden-Powell in the morning followed by Bej and Yuan's birthday in the afternoon. Wrapping up May with Memorial Day at Kevin's.
June leads off with dim sum at New Capital Seafood. Double party day on Friday: UCLA Rock Wall and UCLA Geography. Mike and Emily's wedding is the following Saturday. Brian's birthday, then watching a movie at Del Amo the next day. Weekend back in the Bay Area for Katie's graduation party and a company picnic. Kim's visit the following weekend.
Kicking off July with another visit back to the Bay Area, then Independence Day at Billy and Amy's. Chris and Bettina's wedding followed the next day. Dim sum at Elite Restaurant with Frances, Patrick, and Dan. Leif-Eric's potluck for BECKS-NG.
August is helping Pearl move and Frances' going-away barbeque. Trip to New York follows. No Broadway shows this year, but lots of fun was still had! August wraps up with: food, waterfight, and dim sum. Lots of random pictures wrap up August: dinner by Bill and Annie, pre-Disneyland Half Marathon, dinner at El Gringo, and Century City mall pictures.
September opens up with UCLA vs. Tennessee on Labor Day. Dim sum at Capital Seafood, then more college football: UCLA vs. Arizona at the Rose Bowl. Throw in more random pictures throughout September: dinner at Sushi Masu, lunch at Pho Vie, and a BBQ. The month concludes with Vegas for the weekend.
October is UCLA vs. Washington State at the Rose Bowl, one of our few wins this season. Fooding: Thai and Korean noodles commences. Five days in Oregon are next, including UCLA vs. Oregon football! Viet and Maggie's wedding finally happened! Second-to-last gallery in October is fairly random: Lucas' going-away party and lots other random shots. Cheston and Angie's Halloween party at That 70's House.
The SkirtChaser 5k marks the start of November. Follow it up with an IDSA-LA event on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and some protest pictures the next day. Watched UCLA vs. Oregon State and had Korean tofu the two days later, then ran the UCLA Tri-team's Bruin 5k the following weekend. Camille and Francis' wedding the weekend before Thanksgiving. Lunch at Hide Sushi the day before Thanksgiving.
