Kentucky
Wrapped up the trip with a less than pleasant run around a local mall parking lot, as sidewalks are not exactly common around here, then a bit of a detour on the way to the airport to lunch.
Slow Burn Hot Chicken is on one of Eater's lists of best hot chicken, and I was unfortunately not impressed. The staff are great and work their butts off, but two chicken tenders instead of a proper patty in the hot chicken sandwich were a bit overmatched against the large, fluffy bun. Medium spicy wasn't too hot at all, a nice reminder of heat, could easily have gone one level more spicy. And while I understand they are short-staffed, that clearly did the tater tots no favors as they had lost that delicious fresh out of the fryer feel.
30 more minutes to the airport fortunately was not a bad drive, and was more than happy to be rid of the extremely meh Nissan Altima rental I had, especially its terrible seats with awful lumbar support.
In the end, a solid trip, and always fun to hit the track again, especially in a car as good as the C8!
