Mammoth
The Lai-Placer families headed home today, but they did a quick stop by the village before they left, plus they came over for lunch. Given Mike and Lan Lan have a goal of not bringing excess food home, it was perfect to have them all over to help us reduce our surplus. Not to mention a good excuse for Chris to bring over some supplemental chicken tenders and french fries.
Mike and I did our customary afternoon runs as well, although we found the top completely closed. We did manage to meet one of Mammoth's most experienced boarders on the High Five, apparently he'd done 77,000 feet of vertical in one day the day before just doing laps on High Five, and his record was 84,000 feet of vertical in one day not long ago (!!!!). We did the math on his cycle time and still aren't quite sure how...?!?!?
Wrapped up the day walking the dogs on the ski back trail as a pair of US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets passed overhead, followed up with leftover adobo for dinner and the last of the ice cream for dessert-- with a purple sunset in the background. Can't complain how the last evening of the trip went.
