Iceland
Doing a proper trip in Iceland with second family. 8 days in the country, mostly driving the ring road to soak in the scenery, plus the two days of fly fishing, the Melin family's favorite hobby. And two days in Reykjavík just because. Might have been a stop or two at a hot spring too.
Day 1 - flying and working and terrible airport food.
Day 2 - saw Fagradalsfjall erupting when we arrived but foolishly did not stop, plus Blue Lagoon, Seljalandsfoss, Gljufrabui, and Skogafoss before heading to Vik.
Day 3 - black sand at Reynisfjara Beach, Fjadrargljufur Canyon, Svartifoss, and perhaps the most unique sights of the trip, Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach.
Day 4 - from Hofn to the tree-lined valley housing Modir Jord - Vallanes Organic Farm, Hengifoss and Litlanesfoss, then off to the little cruise port of Seydisfjordur.
Day 5 - Studagil Canyon and the Jokulsa River for the last basalt columns of the trip, Hverir geothermal area, and the Laxa i Adaldal for the start of two days of fly fishing.
Day 6 - fly fishing the Laxa i Adaldal, lunch in Hussavik, ending the day at Godafoss and ultimately Akureyri.
Day 7 - morning in Akureyri before heading to Reykjavik via the ring road and Iceland's many tunnels.
Day 8 - exploring Reykjavik, including Sky Lagoon and Dill, Iceland's only Michelin star.
Day 9 - fun with last-minute flight changes due to the remains of Hurricane Ida flooding our original itinerary.
