San Francisco
Had hot pot at Dragon Beaux the last trip, switched it up to dim sum this trip. Their har gow were properly executed (HOORAY!), one of the few places to get this right. Har cheung fun were loaded with shrimp but weren't quite as good in execution, and the rest of the menu continued the theme: pretty good but nothing outstanding.
Pai gut were a perfect case of this, sufficiently meaty and flavorful but just a bit too much bone in the bone-to-meat ratio. Roast pork was perhaps a tad too fatty to optimally show off the crispy skin, and shu mai were good but undistinguished. I think we messed up and ordered the wrong tripe, what we got was done plain and had to be dipped, as opposed to the more common ginger tripe. Gai lan was quite good, and finally the lo bac guo were quite tasty and almost as good as the har gow.
Wrapped up the meal with the Beijing duck, which was excellent. Would order again.
Clement Street Farmers' Market, Little Sweet for their tasty brown sugar boba milk tea, and a drive by Twitter (err, X) HQ sometime over the rest of the afternoon. Simon's model/figurine painting occupied most of the rest of the time for Sue and Ophelia, too. Turns out that was as interesting and fun as promised, not to mention surprisingly challenging when it came to the art of mixing colors.
Dinner was at R&G Lounge, where the house special crab is nomnomnomonom. Snow peas and shrimp-stuffed deep fried tofu were sneakily good, and the sea bass is mmmmmmmmm good but priced like the crab. o_0
