Another unassuming corner deep in Los Angeles, Chef Mei Lin's Daybird fries up Sichuan-style fried chicken sandwiches.
Not quite sure how I feel about it-- it's tasty enough and very, very Instagram-worthy.
But unlike some fusions, the blend of Sichuan and American fried chicken seems to fall short of amazing. Solid and enjoyable, but really hard to say if it's worth the drive, especially when a few more minutes' down the road gets you to some other fried chicken places such as Howlin' Rays, which, while more traditional American, have definitely left stronger impressions....
