Joe's Birthday
Joe's birthday being celebrated with a private dining experience at Shunji, under Chef Miki's careful supervision. A superbly crafted meal as always, easily worth the Michelin 1* rating. Kinemedai (golden eye snapper), pike mackerel, hotate (scallop), chawanmushi with crab, Japanese barracuda, bluefin tuna (from Boston!), nodoguro (black throat sea perch) all particularly memorable this visit.
And special thanks to Joe for letting his coworkers take over his actual birthday, and to Joe's better half Lulu for tolerating Mike and I at dinner! Now to resist going back, now that we just found out Shunji's December menu is going to be an increased focus on sushi at Chef Miki-san's half of the restaurant... oh yes, happy birthday Joe!
