Toronto
Early morning return meant six hours in an old United 737 to San Francisco International Airport. First stop was the massive US Preclearance facility at Toronto Pearson International Airport, where the food options were a bit lacking (especially in the more distant gates), but at least they had convenience stores and an Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Express? Then add in some time for de-icing and it was more than six hours in the old 737-800, but at least I had gotten upgraded to first class so it wasn't too bad. Actual flight time was just over 5.5 hours, and the sunrise during take-off was admittedly pretty glorious.
United flight 565 was mostly uneventful otherwise, SFO was a bit drizzly, and then boarded a different old 737-800 that was also United flight 565 for the return to LAX. That flight was a bit bumpy so not much service, but honestly, no complaints.
Lunch after arriving in Los Angeles was A Southern Affair Southern Cuisine. Ox tail, chicken wings, and deep fried turkey, along with the sides (rice and beans, collard greens, green beans, garlic mashed potatoes) were all rich in flavor and generous in portion, but unfortunately also much too salty.
