Finally made it to (one part of) SR20 Reunion this year, aka the SR20 National Convention + SR20 West Coast Convention: their private tour of The Vault at the Petersen Automotive Museum.
Having been to The Vault a few times, nothing too interesting had changed for me, so it was more to catch up with the handful of people I knew (and more I did not know!). Then unfortunately I got a bit distracted after by the Tesla exhibition and the Ferrari exhibition, and then the We Are Porsche exhibition... all of which were way cool, except then I lost everyone. Oops!
As far as exhibitions, Tesla had some great breakdowns/cutaways showing the evolution of their electric motors (aka drive units), and had some side-by-side stuff that showed off not only advancements in manufacturability but also in power density. Manufacturing efficients were well shown-off and was almost worth the price of admission alone, and seeing the Cybertruck prototype was kind of cool.
Ferrari's exhibition in The Vault was not quite as well done as the last Porsche one in there, but the caliber of the vehicles on display was top-notch as always. And going to the 1950s and older, was extra fun to spend a lot of time on them instead of more time on the newer models (although the LaFerrari is much cooler in person than in photos...).
Wrapped up with We Are Porsche on the 2nd floor. Had a few Porsche 935's (which are very modern if short of the very most current-2023-state-of-the-art) that were impressive, but much of the focus was some well-known Porsche builders back in the original Porsche 356 era. I know many love the 356-- I do-- but so many of them was admittedly a bit more depth than I needed... but no less impressive.
