New Year's Eve
Caught up with Petula over shabu shabu at Mokkoji for lunch-- first time since she's moved back to the USA! Wasn't the best hot pot experience per se, but the quality of the beef sampler was excellent, and you honestly could save a few bucks with the cheaper beef belly (toro) or maybe even the brisket and been quite happy. Dessert after at Ant's Ice Cream was also very good, and also happened to walk by a Bober Tea that will have to be visited some other time when there's more stomach space. Would get the pandan egg waffle and the taro milk tea again at Ant's Ice Cream.
Had an unexpected Nissan Skyline GT-R (R33) sighting while dropping Petula off; it had 19" Volk TE37's in gold, a wing, exhaust, and generally looked tastefully and fairly lightly modified. The owner probably had no clue the car behind him was likely faster than him, or if he did, he didn't care...
New Year's Eve dinner was a much-belated meal of American waygu in the form of a Snake River Farms Gold Grade 1.5" ribeye. Because why not ring in the new year with a massive amount of steak?
