Snow Summit

Skiing at Snow Summit/Big Bear with Carley, Tara, and Sophia. Originally this was the "local" trip for people who couldn't make the 3-day trip scheduled this February. Reality, just about everyone who couldn't make the local trip can't make EITHER of the two ski trips...

This trip was supposed to be the weekend before, too... so that may have screwed some people's plans (who otherwise would have come). Oh well. We packed up and did almost a full day of skiing/snowboarding at Snow Summit, sticking mostly to beginner/intermediate runs, since, for once, everyone was beginner to intermediate in skill. Carley was on new skis and aside from Sophia, none of us had hit the snow since last year- ouch!

It wasn't too crowded, so it was pretty fun once we got things sorted out. The majority of the people skiing didn't seem to come out until well after 10:30am, and by 10:30am we had been on the slopes for half an hour. If 10:00am was early enough to beat the crowds, you know it's a slow weekend...

Nothing else too exciting. I face planted once (still hurts a little) over a little jump, and heck everyone spent time eating snow. No big collisions either this time, although no, I didn't run over anyone cute by accident either!

Started snowing around 2pm though, which was cool! Made the drive home rather slow, though. Highway 38 is filled with gravel all over the road-- BE CAREFUL when driving down it. Apologies to Sophia, Carley, and Tara, for scaring the crap out of them on the way home! Sorry about that! I understand if you'd rather not get back into my car again. =P

(Passing on Highway 38, which is just 2 lanes... passed not one, but three cars on the left (!!) (stupid, I know), then hit a patch of gravel as I re-entered the right lane and instead of drifting nicely back into my lane, I ended up half in my lane, half on the shoulder of the road for about three seconds as we went over the gravel patch and I was able to make a safe steering correction. **shudder**)
