Hawaii
Hitting up the exhibit hall at this year's AAG Annual Meeting confirmed how much smaller it was than normal; it felt like the exhibit hall for vendors and posters was half the size it was usually. The children's map competition was kind of cute, although seeing one map completely missing Europe was a bit odd.
Given I was staying next to Ala Moana Marketplace, decided to go there after sessions wrapped up for a late lunch. Laihana Chicken Company's half roast chicken is massive, with a good quality chicken, but the sides left something to be desired. The glass noodles in particular were pretty awful, although I am curious enough about their prime rib to consider a repeat visit, despite how crowded the ground floor food court is.
Bernard, newly moved to Hawaii, was available for dinner, so we headed over to Han no Daidokoro for a somewhat absurd meal of Japanese Miyazaki waygu A5. It was damned good, but then, for the price, anything less would have been disappointing. The beef tongue in particular was excellent, as were most of the very thin cuts. And the mascarpone ice cream, house-made, was a nice finish.
