First tracks at a mostly (but not entirely) closed Canyon Lodge, 8:30am.

Schoolyard Express.

Lucas is still a little young to actually understand why he has to pay attention.

He loves going into deeper snow. Even if that means getting stuck.

Another new skier managed to crash out of her ski boot.

Weird to see Canyon Lodge so empty.

Easiest way down High Five in the afternoon.

Technically the runs directly down to Canyon Lodge are closed, even if Canyon Lodge is partially open.

But we went that way anyway. Lots of bumps but not too bad.

3:30pm vs. 8:30am.

Family time.

The snowfall from Thursday's storm was enough that they were able to reopen Canyon Lodge for skiing this weekend. No services provided as they didn't have the staff, but it was pretty clutch to have another parking area open complete with bathrooms, and to have not only Rollercoaster Express open but also Schoolyard Express, so Mike had more runs for Lucas. Enough powder remained that it was beautiful almost everywhere, although it was sticky and slow underneath the surface. It was a distinctly new experience to be on some of the busiest runs off Canyon with no one on them, no grooming, and over a foot of fresh snow. Well worth the workout.
