Longten Cafe
Finally made it to Longten Cafe for lunch. They were larger than expected, with an even more surprising underground parking structure that was quite ample in size. We had some solid veggies and a decent enough deep fried bean curd, a kind of okay har cheung fun (the shrimp were a bit too plain). The beef chow fun was kind of like the har cheung fun, the quality of everything except for the protein was pretty good; the beef itself was very plain. Both the sweet and sour fish as well as the deep fried pork chop were excellent. Sadly as competitive as the HK-style cafe scene is around here, the misses are just significant enough to say it's hard to say it's worth a return visit anytime soon.
Feng Cha is always delicious for milk tea, although I think overall I still prefer Half and Half. Still the fruit teas and cheese foam teas at Feng Cha are not things Half and Half is quite as strong in, so they're well worth a stop. Christina and Stanley couldn't make it to lunch but we brought back plenty of Feng Cha for them, and got to see baby Ender for the first time before commencing board games. Baby Ender is still quite tiny and pretty much either slept or drank milk, which is exactly what you're supposed to be doing at that age. *grins*
Board games was the familiar and still fun/quick Sea Salt and Paper, plus a new one to me, Can't Stop. The latter is a dice rolling game as you progress up a mountain, and check your progress basically by determining how ambitious you are-- do you keep rolling or do you stop and let the next player go. Pretty fun but a different vibe than the more complex games we usually play.
