Dha Rae Oak
Excellent duck for Korean BBQ at Dha Rae Oak with Christina, Stanley, Ender, Rebecca, and May. The sliced duck breast is delicious, although bring a big paper napkin (bigger than what they give you) as it does splatter. Banchan are a bit basic, and the clay pot roasted duck stuffed with rice is just okay-- some parts were dry and inedible. However they have parking, which is a major plus, and duck, so long as you don't think about the duck fat and your arteries, is worth the occasional splurge.
Coin de Rue is next door, always a delicious bakery stop as well. Not sure what the 2D croissant fad is tho, and did not have stomach space available to try it.
Drove up to Bakersfield that evening to pre-position for a track day with Mike. The TownePlace Suites Bakersfield West is a familiar loaction with decent parking and decent rooms, and the local Red Lobster, well, is such a Middle America experience that we couldn't resist the nostalgia. Food isn't what I would call good, but if you want a relatively affordable surf and turf experience I'd say go for it. Had a pretty solid sunset as well so no complaints.
