Newport Seafood
Lunch with Pearl and her coworkers at Newport Seafood in San Gabriel, CA.
aka, after getting up at 6am to run the Santa Monica Classic 6k/4 miles, I was back home, freshly showered, and wondering how the hell the race organizers could have screwed up and not marked the 5k turn-around point properly (28:52 for 3.9 miles is what it turned out be for me, still a very good pace for a lard*ss like me =P )... then Pearl IM'ed and said lunch?
Turns out she had IM'ed earlier, but to the wrong IM. Still, I had just run hard, I was going to do nothing the rest of the day, so hell why not, a seafood lunch sounds tasty!
Little did I know what I was getting into.
Lobster and crab done in the Vietnamese/Chinese fashion or the salted/peppered fried fashion. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. We massively overdid it, with geoduck soup and as a dish, clams, cubed pepper beef... we ended up with a table completely full of food, and we ate it all! o_0
It wasn't cheap ($45/person for 6 of us), but it was extremely good for this kind of food. It's cheap decor, typical hole in the mall, where all that matters is the food and that you have cash to pay for it (no credit cards!). Seriously yummy if you understand that.
Went for massages afterwards at a place (5 9 or 9 5 Healthcare?) off of Garfield Ave and Garvey Ave in the same shopping center I had dessert with Frances a while back. $15 for an hour is about the cheapest I've seen in the USA, and for $15 it was pretty good!
