Surf City Half Marathon
After an unplanned and unexpected five (six?) week break from running, eeking out the Surf City Half Marathon in 1:59:15 was about as fast as I expected. This year's Beach Cities Challenge medal is an octopus, which continues the theme of sea animals. Had perfect weather at least, and as usual the Lee family-- especially AJ-- put in a solid performance.
Lunch was Chinchikurin's customarily solid okonomiyaki, with a spread of mostly pretty good appetizers. Just wish they had cut the karaage into more reasonably sized pieces.
Caught up with Dr. Wang after the race, with cherry and chocolate pies at Winston Pies. They're definitely a high-end pie shop but for a post-race splurge, why not? Dinner later was at Galbi King. Not particularly good soon tofu or kbbq, but considering the dearth of choices in the area, they did the job.
