Luxembourg
Ate too much before boarding my flight to Europe, so opted to skip meal service onboard my flight from Los Angeles to London, and spend time, well, sleeping. Held off on eating til landing in London, where a bowl of won ton noodle soup and a quarter of roast duck called to me at Shan Shui at Heathrow Airport. Neither was great, but for airport food they were certainly more than good enough. Then it was time to board a Lufthansa Airbus A320 from LHR-MUC, which then gave me immediate flashbacks to Air Serbia and LATAM, both of whom use the exact same seat, airplane type, and seat pitch.
At least it was a short flight to Munich, and connecting through Munich is pretty easy. The Lufthansa lounge at terminal 2, Schengen area, isn't as nice as the Lufthansa Lounge at Heathrow Airport's terminal 2
, but it does the job, and rather agreeably had a few snacks and drinks. Saw some local whiskey as well at buffet, but decided to decline since I still had a long day ahead of me.Final flight of the day was onboard Air Dolomiti, on one of their Embraer E190's. 31 inches of pitch is technically 1 inch more than Lufthansa A320, but in reality it felt just as tight. Again a quick flight, and a smooth arrival from MUC-LUX. Took a few minutes to get through the airport, past the exercise bikes (!), and from the pier to the terminal proper, then curbside to exit the airport. Just like in Belgrade, public transportation is free in Luxembourg, and unlike Belgrade, here the system is expansive, clean, modern, and efficient. To be fair there are plenty of delays, but they are reported in real-time, and the airport is actually quite close to Luxembourg City proper.
With a late evening arrival came some rather poor food choices; apparently going out at night here isn't really a thing. Fast food and some late-night places are it, ended up at a combination pizza/kebab/Thai food court-ish place right across from the central train station. Food was best described as adequate, but heck, I wasn't complaining. The Luxembourg Marriott Alfa hotel was almost next door as well, so a very convenient location and a lovely, almost new hotel.
