Random Stuff

From the month of March.

Dinner with Sophia, Keith, Kanita, Annie, Will, Justin, and Jay at Korean BBQ Lighthouse in La Habra. Very yummy, with terrible service (as expected)! Keith and I were still sunburned, but while the hot weather (even inside at work) had conspired for me to finish most of my peeling, Keith... Keith... man, ouch!

We had dessert afterwards at Kanita's. Yummy ice cream and hot tea!

Next...

Out with Pearl, Jenn, Julie, Thomas, and _?_ at MazdaRevItUp in Irvine. After a crazy and very yummy 12 (13?) person meal of dim sum that morning at Sam Woo BBQ, one of Pearl's least-planned and more-crazy planning efforts.

We did karting-- the first time for me!-- there, plus Pearl, Julie, and I each dropped $40 on the competition part of the event.

Somehow (honest! I don't know what questions I answered on the profile form that did this!) I ended up classed as a Pro driver... I didn't think a couple of full fledged hotlap events and autocrosses with NASA and SCCA would lead to that, but wtf? Anyway, I managed to humilate myself with an indexed score of only 395 =( in the event, but the instruction they offered was pretty good for all the true newbies out there. I'd be more than just humilated at my pathetic score, but I haven't autocrossed in years, so I guess I can't bitch too much. Plus, it was still faster than the other two. Barely... I guess it proves that I'm still a wanna-be track slut...

Thomas, Jenn, and _?_ took off early-- after karting-- and Jenn couldn't even go karting! She was too short! It was still fun for everyone else though, running a little 25 lap race... We were all happily running around the track, although myself and one of the RevItUp employees who was on the track with us were occasionally pissing off everyone else, as we proceeded to lap them multiple times, braking deep into corners and stuff. heh heh! Karting is indeed a great deal of fun though!!

Mazda's setup was pretty good. Very large, clearly aimed at driver education... not as posh as past Mercedes or Saab events, but very nice all the same. (past Mercedes E-motion 2002 pics: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8)

Yes, before you ask, people DO fit in the backseat of the RX-8, although I would not recommend it for long trips. And yes, Pearl does fit in the trunk of an RX-8, although it's a tight fit... =P
