Finally managed to catch up with Andi on one of his visits to Los Angeles, and as a treat, he brought along his better half for once (great to finally meet you, Kat!).
Kogi truck is a classic that Andi specifically requested. Their Korean-fusion tacos are the way to go to get a good taste of the flavors, with the classic spicy pork, shortrib, chicken, and grilled calamari being the way to go. We did three of the four and found the calamari in particular to be excellent.
Quick walk around Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade after, enjoyed a beer at Barney's Beanery to pretend we belonged, then it was off to Cassia for their Singaporean-French-American fusion. Their laska is too fancy and clean for its own good, but the kon loh mee, despite being too clean and elegant as well, was quite tasty. The Hainan chicken was unexpectedly excellent, the spicy won tons were not very spicy but were also tasty, and Kat liked the beef rendang, especially when eaten with the peanuts.
Andi chose the coconut sorbet for dessert, that ended up being a superb choice. To top off the night we randomly saw a Ferrari 308 Quattrovalvole on the way back to their hotel. Always great to hang out! (we won't discuss the usual horrible 3rd party EV charging network experience that was the actual end of my night...)
