Lunch hangouts at work, including the surprisingly fresh vending machine packaged meals that are newly available, complimented by Mike's very fancy gunpowder green tea from Chado Tea Room-- brewed with Joe's similarly fancy percolator thing.
Lunch the following day at XIBEI Eatery, which replaced the old Northern Cafe Noodle House. Their handmade noodles, particularly with a beef rib, plain bok choy, and chili paste seem to be their signature. Having had it a few times now I am not impressed, the beef rib is not very well seasoned, and the bok choy is completely plain. Handmade noodles are quality, but that is too common a thing to be competitive on its own. They must still have it right tho, because some days at lunch they are packed with a lengthy wait; this visit was on a day where I could get a seat immediately.
With a somewhat disappointing beef rib noodle for lunch, grabbed a pretty good looking ribeye from the grocery store for dinner. Have to say that hit the spot much more than lunch did...
