Not the biggest fan of Marugame Udon's mainland locations-- their Waikiki location is 10x better run and is an amazing experience to watch, and a fun one to dine at-- but they do seem to be doing their best despite COVID-19 making normal operations impossible? And a free meal as a Yelp perk didn't hurt! (yes, I tipped generously)
And for those asking, even with freshly deep fried tempura, this is still very much a fast casual place. You aren't getting a fine dining experience here. In fact part of the experience is just how quickly, cheaply, and efficiently they can make food. The Waikiki location can have a massive line outside and still cycle you in and out in 20 minutes (!), while I don't think the Sawtelle location has ever gotten anywhere close!
