The heat wave over Minneapolis earlier in the week finally broke yesterday, although it was still unpleasant. So for today, it decided to pour rain in an effort to cool off even more... which meant I decided to forget the very slow bus ride to the airport and pony up for a rideshare instead.
Had an extremely stylish yet stale donut at Angel Food Bakery while waiting for my flight (raspberry toaster strudel donut, you had so much promise), gawked over the Snoopy statue (love that Peanuts is everywhere), and then a quick flight from MSP to ORD. Got clobbered with the standard forever taxi at ORD, especially with all the construction, then some annoying delays at ORD. Fortuntely did not get to Cleveland too much later than planned, and was still able to enjoy Erik's excellent work on the grill.
Not sure we needed Mason's Creamery for ice cream again, but have to agree that they are innovative on flavors without being too crazy. Sweet corn and honey cornbread both were mild enough to not be too surprising, yet innovative enough to be memorable. Given how sweet things tend to be for Americans, both were pleasantly sweet by American standards wihtout being too much for my taste buds. Wrapped up the night with the excellent George T. Stagg bourbon that Erik managed to get ahold in a previous lottery, a superb finish after the multiple scoops of ice cream.
