Waka Sakura
Waka Sakura is the new hot conveyor belt sushi place, and true to their reputation, they are some of the best conveyor belt sushi around. In additional to generous cuts of fish, they serve several items not typically seen at affordable places, including hokkigai (arctic surf clam), whelk (tsubugai), flounder fin (engawa), and sea bream (tai). If you have friends who have yet to venture very far in their sushi fish but might be open to it, Waka Sakura might be an ideal place to do so.
The wait is killer, tho. They open at 11:00am, I got there around 11:15am with a claimed 45 minute wait, turned out to be a 75 minute wait, and the waitlist peaked at 2 hours while I was waiting. Ouch.
Dinner a few hours later with the Cheng family at Fogo de Chao, for their summer promotion, The Fogo $49. More limited meat menu but still has all the essentials, including picanha (prime part of top sirloin), medalhoes com bacon (bacon-wrapped steak), garlic picanha, and of course, their desserts, which are legit. They also had dragonfruit (!) at the salad bar, which was an added bonus.
