The a.m. smash breakfast pop-up reappeared nearby again, this time armed with a pork belly special. The "PBS" was not bad but I think I like the regular pork sausage more. Came a bit later than usual this time and they had a decent line, clearly coming first thing in the morning is the way to go.
Marden's Chicken Rice on Sawtelle was also open, their Hainan chicken remains pretty bomb, although the fact that it's a pop-up/to-go only means you can't just ask for more garlic sauce. The 14-day dry aged duck breast (kiam chai ark) is tasty but not all that much duck given the price you're paying ($45 as of this posting, $22 for the chicken rice), which is a bit rough. Still tasty but at that price it's hard to say this will be an order-again-anytime-soon item.
Christina and Stanley headed home after lunch, while the rest of us dived into board games. Ophelia pulled out the win in Dune: Imperium, while I have to say the path to victory in the game is finally starting to make more sense to me. Played a few rounds of Wingspan after that, did pretty good the first game and I think better the later ones, but lost by worse margins in the later games-- Sue is too damned good, and Ophelia isn't that far off!
Local taco truck for their tripa burrito after. Today was not one of their better days, recent visits have been much better.
