Cheston and Angie's Wedding
First it was Billy and Amy, now it's Cheston and Angie. Congratulatons!
Drove in with Pearl and Simon. Arrived early, had a snack at a KFC with a very tiny set of bathroom doors...
The ceremony itself was very nice, pure vanilla. None of the theatrics that accompanied Bej's wedding and while still pretty big (250 people), it was a lot smaller than Leif's wedding. That made it pretty nice, we could talk to everyone we knew, socialize a bit outside in the driving wind, and not stress out about anything. Viet, Maggie, Billy, Amy, and George were just barely on time, too. Amazing! About the only thing really odd were some of the banners on the church walls...
Did a quick stop at BJ's for drinks and to watch the NCAA Tournament. Turns out we lost a few people to a different BJ's location. Whoops.
Prince Seafood Restaurant was the banquet location-- the same place Bill and Annie had their engagement party. The room was very nice-- high ceilings, very dignified air, which we then shattered any pretentions by finding out that there was a different bottle of hard alcohol at each table, and we were encouraged to share. Woohoo!
Lots of good food and fun. Standing in line filing past the sign-in table, we snapped a few photos with Cheston, hunted down our missing bottle of Patron, and were dorks. The head table wasn't elevated as it was in most really traditional Chinese ceremonies so we had a hard time verifying that Cheston and Angie were kissing when we started chiming with our glasses, but they more than appeased everyone when, late into dinner, Joe Bruin showed up and promptly stole the show for about 20 minutes!
Things wound down fairly quickly after a few hours, but the cake cutting was done to a full house. The bouquet toss had to be done twice, Angie's first toss went a little too far. Cheston didn't have any aiming problems with the garter toss-- or maybe George just really wanted to catch it?
Fun times, and yes, holy crap, Angie and Cheston are now married! Who's next? Liang and Dian, or Viet and Maggie...??
Who went: a few old school Maxima guys-- Nabil and his wife, Hiroshi and his girlfriend, I think that was it. Then the gaggle of college-era friends: Viet and Maggie, Billy and Amy, Farhana, George, Nishant (ceremony only), Kim (sadly no Barry-- he was in China and couldn't come), Brandon, An Thomas and Theresa, Pearl, Steve, Simon, plus a ton more I'm sure I'm forgetting.
