Vegas to Kansas Roadtrip 2010
Mike has a beautiful house and tons of toys in Oklahoma city. We hopped on his ATV's and dirtbikes and tried our best to (not actually) kill ourselves at Lake Stanley Draper in OKC, then had lunch at Braum's (and ice cream!).
Off to downtown to meet up with Justin's friend, who owns No Regrets Tatoo. We visited the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial and the Land Rush monument-- the former was a surprisingly alive take on what could have been a very solemn moment.
Dinner was at Big Truck Tacos, a very contemporary take on Mexican with excellent tacos and queso. Then a run to Pops 66 for a random soda store in the middle of nowhere. Very cool, selection was almost as good as Galco's in Pasadena, but with a much more modern flair. Very cool.
Now only if it wasn't so poor and so bloody windy in OKC... with cheap land and about 5 zillion hopsitals, well, let's just say flyover country isn't a wasteland. There's more there than I expected, but only just. I'll keep California, thankyouverymuch.
