Dublin: September 2017
Uneventful return via Dublin Aiport and the rather barren US Preclearance facility. Preclearance is great in theory, taking care of customs and immigration abroad and landing at a domestic on the return, but in reality it just meant the terminal in Dublin was even more barren and less comfortable than usual.
That said, the flight back was smooth and reasonably roomy on a tired old United 777-200, definitely more comfortable than the afternoon's flight on a domestic-configured 777-200 with the tight 10-abreast economy class. At least Newark International Airport is a decent place to have a layover, and they had a nice memorial up to September 11, 2001.
