Roadtrip: July 2017
Helped Erik finish the last few things left to pack in the apartment, a quick pastry at Grand Central Bakery, and then the start of our first day of Erik's (almost) cross-country roadtrip.
10 hours of driving wasn't too bad at all. Nice breaks in Pendleton for lunch and Boise for dinner-- 10 Barrel Brewing in Boise was quite good, and they humored the crazy dog owners eating outside in the 100F heat (in the shade, no less) with lots of ice water. The climb out of eastern Oregon saw quite a change in climate, from forests into the semi-arid lands following the Snake River.
Pulled into Twin Falls right as rain started to fall in intermittent bursts. Thought we had an amazing view of the gorge that Evel Knievel tried to jump over from the Perrine Bridge that lead into town-- then it rained! I did get a better view of the gorge on my evening run-- it was the unexpected highlight of the first day!
