Beef congee is weird, McDonald's double filet-o-fish is pretty decent, their apple pie for Pi Day is a nice touch. Not the most special, but given how early UA 1 arrives in the morning, it's not the worst option.
Fraser House is a very nice hotel, part of Marriott's Luxury Collection, and located at Bugis Junction, which is a rather complicated, difficult to navigate shopping mall, even for ex-pats. Still, successfully met up with Gerard, managed a tea at Toast Box, ran some errands, and lunch at his favorite Thai place, Beer Thai-- the smoked (?) duck curry was superb. Spent a surprising amount of time exploring the hotel in the afternoon, as it was much larger than its tiny lobby suggests, aided by a fairly solid milk tea from Beutea, right next door at Bugis Junction.
Meeting with Gerard and his family for dinner, stopped by at Elijah Pies for a beautiful blueberry and lavendar pie for Pi Day. Done in a cream pie style, only mildly sweet as Asian palates demand, it went well with Gerard's extensive whisky selection, including Svensk Ek, a Swedish whisky. Did a bunch of tasty Taiwanese take-out for dinner as well.
