London
10 hour flight time meant pretty close to 9 hours of sleep after skipping meals onboard, so grabbed a snack at Caffe Nero at London Heathrow once I arrived and got through (the surprisingly short) customs and immigration lines. BLT at Caffe Nero isn't much, so after getting to Canary Wharf, stopped by Eggslut for another sandwich. The various office/mall food courts there have some decent choices, but I wasn't feeling British-Asian food for whatever reason, and the pork romesco, complete with runny egg, did the trick til dinner..
Barrafina is one of Sam's favorite places for Spanish food, and they do a pretty solid job. I would skip the 200g beef sirloin-- it was fine-- but the rest of the menu is better, if not in taste, then at least in presentation and artistic quality. If you can't make it to Spain, they are a worthy alternative. Ice cream at a place around the corner was pretty good too, I think it was actually a dairy-free substitute with a bit of caramel and peanuts that was bang-on. The mango mocktails were on-point as well.
Finally some good hanging out with Sam, taking advantage of the ridiculous suite that the local Marriott put me in. Not a fancy hotel at all, more for business, but the executive-sized desk was a fun and silly conversation point.
