Hong Kong
Mostly uneventful flight from Los Angeles to Hong Kong onboard United flight 152. Some turbulence meant that food stayed in the ovens way too long, and hence the beef ended up pretty awful. The mid-flight tapas were pretty decent tho, with the gnocchi out of LAX being much more edible than the one out of SFO. Empanadas were eh, maybe a tad better out of SFO, and the chicken and rice with mushroom was prohbably a wash.
The morning departure of UA 152 from LAX means an evening arrival to HKG, so got to check out the historic Hong Kong display at the airport before heading to the hotel for the evening. The display is right in the arrivals area of Terminal 1, so easy to find-- and they did a bang-up job with the McDonald's, the fake neon signs, and both the electronics shop and tailor shop. Always nice to appreciate the history, and even more so to make it so easy for everyone to see it.
The Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towels is still the same as always, can't complain about the view of Victoria Harbour given how affordable the place is. Rooms aren't the biggest, nor is the lounge, but it works, and the location, if you like being in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, is hard to beat.
