Mr. Rice
Too many sweets at work-- I forget who makes the Korean-style donuts (they used to say the vendor, not sure they do anymore), but the Dubai chocolate one, which is cut in half, then spread with something crunch and honey on the bottom, chocolate with a few decorative pistachios on top-- is quite dense, almost crunchy. Not a cake donut, but many times more dense and heavy than a raised donut.
Then for good measure, Joe brought in an apple caramal pie from Whole Foods. It was actually good, although like most American desserts, much too sweet.
Random dinner after with Mike, Joe, and Jason at Mr. Rice. Their mixian (basically noodle soups) are decent, and they do a lot of cold appetizers, which... well... pre-packaged in plastic is all you need to know. However, it was nice to mix it up from the other Chinese places in Westwood, and always good to catch up with coworkers.
