Wang's Broth inside Huaxi Street Night Market was high on Lan Lan's list, and she was right-- the braised pork and mushroom rice there is excellent. Dessert at a stall nearby was really tasty as well. Lucas then wanted to go to Taipei 101, and as it'd been a few years for me... sure why not?
As one of the world's tallest buildings (101 floors, 508 meters/1,667 feet), complete with an exposed mass damper on the 89th-ish floor at the center of the main observation deck, Taipei 101 is still a fun place to visit. The 89th floor observation deck is massive, there is a somewhat exposed skydeck a few floors above, and if you pay extra, the very highest 101st floor observation deck is strikingly different from the main one-- almost peaceful and small, complete with tables you could almost bring a laptop to work from for a spell.
Said farewell to the Chen-Wu family in the afternoon, after a milk tea and an ice cream stop, then was off to Yongkang Beef Noodle for dinner. Certain family members dismiss it as a tourist spot, but since I am a tourist, this was still pretty good to me, even if the intestine appetizer was just okay.
