Fukugawa is old school Los Angeles for Japanese food. Nothing special, but everything is competent, and the steak bento is of very, very good quality for lunch.
The next day, Flour Pizza in Brentwood. A whole pie takes a bit (no longer than the competition) and is well worth the trouble, although they have plenty of competition who are just as good.
