New York
Low-key day of working, running, and $1.50 pizza for some delicious cheap eats. Pop Up Bagels, as recommended by Beckylee, was also excellent, although they literally just sell bages and schmear in containers. No toasters, no plates, no sandwiches, nothing-- as someone who wanted a snack before getting on the train to Newark, this was not idea, but at least they give you disposable wooden cultery. I did not need an entire container of cream cheese for one bagel, but I wasn't going to go somewhere else either.
The NJ Transit trains from New York Penn Station are ancient but do the job, and it was a quick-ish ride to Newark Airport, then another easy ride over via the Newark Airport Airtrain.
Pre-United Hub Run dinner was at Chateau of Spain, actually owned by a United employee, and while pricing was initially intimidating, it was actually a solid value as they give you massive amounts of food. I think my lamb chop plate had seven (!) lamb lolipops on it, and the octopus appetizer was not only properly cooked, it was enormous. And as is common at big events, was good to catch up with a smaller subset of the group doing tomorrow's hub run, as opposed to the next morning, where meeting everyone all at once was going to be a lot more intense.
