New York
Staying in Tribeca meant easy access to Manhattan's Chinatown, so decided to stay in the area this trip. Molly Tea is tasty but expensive, and oddly pale jasmine tea vs. their competitors. West Rice Roll King has very good har cheung fun (shrimp rice noodle roll), and since they actually have a bit of seating, they're a good second stop (Molly Tea was technically stop four). First stop (and third) was Yi Ji Shi Mo, where they had a twenty minute wait, which made it perfect to run over to West Rice Roll King in-between. The har cheung fun at West Rice Roll King is excellent, the pork cheung fun is a bit plain as the pork was not really seasoned.
Yi Ji Shi Mo was worth the wait, tho. They were out of the pei dan sau yut jook, but the preserved vegetable and pork jook was pretty good (if a tad thin), and honestly had no right to be as good as it was. The house special cheung fun -- char shu, shrimp, egg, cilantro) was ridiculously good as well. Did not have stomach space to order more, but would be tempted to try to har cheung fun next time.
Worked the rest of the day, then caught up with Beckylee at Barn Joo Union Square for dinner. It's a smart layout inside, bar/regular on the bottom, kbbq on the upper floor to keep the smoke away. It's got New York pricing (as expected) but the quality is very good, and it was great to see an Antarctica trip friend for the first time in forever.
