Fei Xiang Gong
Malatang for lunch at Bruin Bowl Malatang, one of two new malatang places in the area. Having been to their competitor a few more times, I initally liked Bruin Bowl Malatang better... but now I'm not so sure, especially for the broths. However, despite the fact that Bruin Bowl Malatang has a smaller physical space that means less physical room for the buffet, they seem to maintain a very competitive, if not superior, selection of menu items-- including consistently stocking pork blood (yum!).
Not quite sure how that shakes out for me in the end, might need a few more visits to both to see?
Dinner that night meant catching up with Doug over lamb and beef skewers at Fei Xiang Gong in Koreatown. They are probably our favorite skewer place so far, although to be honest there's still a couple more we need to try-- although some of the remaining options are in 626, which is a bit of a haul compared to k-town. Mixed up the veggies with ong choy this time, which was fresh and delicious, especially while hot. The green onion pancake was plain looking but was actually pretty damned good, too.
