Singapore/New York
Took the first flight of the day out of Newark International Airport in hopes of avoiding the massive delays that EWR has been experiencing. Turns out it worked, although the line of aircraft waiting to take off at 6:00am was almost as long as the line waiting for the United Club at 4:50am. And with so many passengers (wisely) avoiding EWR, my last-minute upgrade actually cleared.
The new dishes and glasses are on premium transcontinential flights as well, and the steak and eggs for breakfast was pretty decent. The yellow bell pepper garnish on the eggs was a bit odd, and the potatoes did not have much flavor, but the fruit salad was good and the steak was decent in quality for airplane food. Yogurt, jam, and granola was more stylish than the Chobani cup that United seems to have an infinite supply of, and the "croissant" was still pretty sad.
The crew was great as well, with purser Rajneeta warmly greeting some of her regulars on this route, and overall it was a solid way to end an unexpectedly long trip.
