Senegal
Morning arrival in Senegal was met with even more fanfare than the departure. Musician at the gate, then land-side was a gaggle of TV cameras pointed at the stage, a buffet twice the size of the one in DC, and more speeches, including the US Ambassador to Senegal, Michael A. Raynor.
The official United people probably had a heavier schedule (Todor later mentioned official festivies!), but being regular passengers, most of us were content to deal with the local taxi scammers (who were as awful as expected) on the way to the hotel, then an easy rest of the day, with a brief stop at the tiny beach by the hotel, and dinner at a local restaurant on the water. Can't say I quite get the European and African thing for a whole fish, but dinner (grouper?) was better than the sea bass and sea bream I've had some recent meals. And we had some fun animal sightings with the locals, complete with dog on a paddleboard, as as a very well-fed cat at the hotel.
