Bruin Bowl Malatang
Malatang places are finally popping up like crazy on the westside, with Bruin Bowl Malatang occupying a former sushi place that had sat underutilized for a very long time. Bruin Bowl Malatang is a self-service buffet done by weight, and from the crowd that was already there (let alone 30 minutes later!), they are quite popular. The spread is authentic, including pork blood and beef tripe, and the soup bases, while not the best, are still pretty legit. Just skip the rice, the quality was not good. Also not much focus on sliced meat there, although honestly that's okay. (skip the fish ball, too)
Walked a few blocks down to Le Phant Milk Tea afterwards. Jason enjoyed his milk tea, while the seasonal strawberry milk was pretty delicious. Although much like Tu Cha from the day before, their interior decor leans a bit too far towards industrial/minimalist.
Speaking of Tu Cha, one more photo of their chocolate cake, under better lightning. Some nuts in the center, and a firmer chocolate base. Quite good.
