Mammoth
Half day of skiing for me (yay for working remotely) meant I joined the group in the afternoon; I suspect Lucas is ready for a lot more time on the main runs now instead of the bunny slope, so as adults we just need to take him out with us??
With so much food from last night, dinner was leftovers... then the next morning, headed out early with Mike and Chris, so that Mike could get a few runs in before they headed home. We ended up doing a ton of laps, including a groomed (!) Lower Dry Creek, then a run down the High Five that isn't usually groomed either (Face of Five is the only run in that area shown on the map...?) that was beautiful fast and just steep enough in one second to be appropriately challenging. Got in quite a few more runs than planned, actually-- everyone finished the morning very pleased.
More meetings meant more snacking, in this case one of the fat donuts that Mammoth Mountain's own bakery bakes for an afternoon snack, before heading back out again with Chris. Had some terrific runs down Cornice and down to Main Lodge, some runs from the top of Broadway (Chair 1) down to Main Lodge, before wrapping up the day right before the lifts closed.
El Charro Taqueria for dinner, with some legit spicy salsa, a decent cabeza nachoes, and a passable buche burrito. Can't expect them to be as good as taco stand in Los Angeles or San Diego, but they were decent enough for Mammoth. Oddly was left most disappointed by the quality of their rice.
