Surf City Half Marathon
Surf City Half Marathon completed, always nice to race with the Lee family. Nice and slow for me given I was getting over a cold (2:44:12 GPS at 12:27/mile, 2:45:53 chip at 12:39/mile) which actually dovetailed nicely with Mike and Allison's plans. Their kids as usual smoked the adults, but that's not news. *grins*
Made it over to The Dim Sum Co. in Westminster afterwards for lunch; co-located inside My Thuan Market, they are take-out only now and a tad cheaper than a proper restaurant. Two-thirds of the dishes were average to pretty good, with the ngau paak yiip (ginger scallion beef tripe) being particularly good, the other one-third were a definite miss. Lo bac guo (pan fried turnip cake) were too thick and decidedly lacking in flavor, the pai gut (pork spareribs) were also mostly lacking in seasoning.
ComeBuyTEA at Bella Terra in Huntington Beach was the last stop of the day; this location has more style than their Seattle (Capitol Hill) location but also less (as in zero) seats. The jasmine green milk tea with brown sugar boba also lacked the artificial flavor of the drink I had in Seattle, and at 50% sweet, was actually pretty good.
