Seattle
Very early morning return from Seattle, a rather sparse yet entirely adequate United Club at SEA (considering SEA isn't a hub or even a focus city for United), and a meal in United domestic first class that made me wonder just how low United could go for their onboard catering. To be fair the "strawberry puree" was actually more tasty than it looked, but man, that is still a terrible name for an extremely dish that really should just be a smoothie.
Late lunch with Rebecca at Yumiyaki Sukiyaki House, which was much more satisfying an experience than the other Chubby Group restaurant from a few days ago (Niku X). The two menus, Gold ($78 non-member/$68 for members) and Diamond ($88/$78) are still cheaper than Niku X's cheapest, and the meat quality is generally better. The buffet itself is purely traditional shabu shabu, but given Chubby Group's claim to fame is their beef, this feels like a much better fit. And the additional waygu A5 items on the menu, not just the limit-one-per-person headliner (waygu A5 ribeye in this case), were actually damned good. Had far too many orders of waygu A5 chuck roll and waygu A5 brisket... *drool*
The tartare appetizers on the diamond menu are good too, at the modest price of $10 more, probably a toss-up if it's worth it?
Matcha at Junbi afterwards; Yumiyaki had a milk tea dispenser (was actually good!) but Rebecca really wanted matcha soft serve.
