Ocean Island
For take-out dim sum, Ocean Island is pretty legit. Not all the menu items are pretty, but the har gow and shu mai are quite acceptable, and the steamed ginger beef tripe (ngau paak yip) was actually very competitive. Not much space to sit inside, but on a warm winter evening that wasn't a big deal.
ALittle Tea's ovaltine drink is pretty okay, then off to Mama's Lu with Madison and Jason. Very much the epitome of comfort food at Mama's Lu, from the fried rice to the bean curd and vegies to the diced filet mignon. Xiao long bao (soup dumplings) and spicy won ton not as good as Din Tai Fung, but they still are tasty enough. And something about the tofu, mushroom, veggie mix is indeed nostalgic.
