Supercomputing 24 (SC24)
Sessions (panels, birds of a feather, papers, etc.) today. Some of the HPC training stuff revealed just how much of a disjointed effort the ecosystem is-- honestly not unexpected-- but the lack of clarify is what is intimidating to outsiders. Some of the performance stuff was cool tho, especially a lot of the optimization comparisons.
Lunch was a very wet walk to Rosa's Pizza, a seriously legit place adored by locals. It's not quite New York style but that doesn't matter, as it's damned good. Dinner was Gus' World Fried Chicken, which is just like the one in Los Angeles-- too-small pieces of chicken but actually pretty tasty despite the spartan ambiance of the downtown Atlanta location. The nearby Peach Cobbler Factory tries to be cute but again is a bit too spartan for its own good. I eat peach cobbler so infrequently I am not a helpful opinion on what is or is not good, but it wasn't bad? Probably not overly sweet by American (let alone Southern) standards, but definitely still sweet.
