Late night arrival from Morocco last night meant an even later arrival at a crappy Fairfield Inn literally next door to a truck stop. Woke up in time for lunch, took a few more photos of my inaugural flight swag from Morocco, then ran off to Pizza Supreme Being for lunch. The Heatwave was pretty meh, hot honey is not my thing, especially when it's not even hot. The pepperoni square had a ton of potential and could have been amazing, but was served lukewarm, which was not good.
Dinner was also in downtown/midtown, over at Shabu Shack's brand-new downtown outpost. They have more established outposts in Elk Grove, Davis, South San Francisco; as a brand-new spot, there were a few teething issues downtown. The counter seating burners for individual hot pots did not work, but they had ample table seating so after 15 or 20 minutes of trying, they moved me to a table where the burner worked.
The premium AYCE menu looked amazing with waygu A5 for $82, but given I was ravenous, the regular AYCE menu for $39 seemed more reasonable. American waygu, beef belly toro, and lamb were all delicious (obviously not as delicious as A5), the beef balls with beef tendon were good too. I ordered way too many veggies (got the combined veggie bowl, which was perfect, then added on a few more orders of individual vegetables... which was overkill. But then I needed vegetables after three straight days of airplane/airport food, so it was good!
