St. Kitts and Nevis
The redeye to New York does not get better with experience, but Tiff and I lucked out and were able to get bulkhead seats on a 787, so we were at least able to lie-flat and enjoy some Tillamook ice cream (thanks for the new collab, United!). The early arrival meant that we had to wait a bit for breakfast at United's C123 club at EWR, but wasn't too horrible a wait-- and breakfast in the club was much better than the slop served on the plane.
Arrival at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport on St. Kitts was confirmation we made a good choice for another tropical getaway. Local dancers welcomed guests on arrival, and the drivers took their time, letting us soak in one of St. Kitts' most classic views (Timothy Hill) on the way to the water transfer from Christophe Harbour. A short boat ride directly to the Four Seasons Nevis, greeting us with a rather exposed if well-maintained beach and dock, then a sea of greeney, with palm trees and rows of low-rise buildings making for a very welcoming atmosphere. Nevis Peak dominates the background, although it's not nearly as dramatic or distinctive as Bora Bora's Mount Otemanu.
Both our travel agent and the hotel manager left nice welcome notes, the hotel's distinctive charm continued with wooden NFC room keys (!), and dinner at the ocean-front restaurant, Mango, was quite good. Some choices, such as pickled jalapenos in the salad, were not ones we'd care to repeat, but the grilled local fish was excellent, and Tiff devoured the carrot cake.
