March 2024: Day 4: Polynesian Night

We were clearly under-dressed.

Papaya salad was gross.

Raw tuna, papaya, cucumber, onions.

I think it was mahi mahi and some very familiar beef and sashimi.

I don't think apples qualify as an exotic fruit.

Wish they had explained the significance of the coconut.

But they never did, so we left unclear.

Plenty more relaxing during the day (isn't that why you come to Bora Bora?), plenty of sweating in the sun, and then even more sweating waiting for Polynesian night. The buffet was ridiculously overpriced ($140 a person?!?!) given the quality of the food, with a terrible papaya salad and sashimi that looked identical to breakfast. The exotic fruit dessert was a baked apple (wtf?).

The cultural part of dinner might have been well-executed-- in fact it well could have been-- but without anything being explained by the hotel, it was largely a mystery as to the importance of individual dances and songs. Had they done that we might have enjoyed it a lot more?
