Vegas
Fooding in Vegas kicks off with a decidedly overrated slice at Secret Pizza. They are quite decent, and the vibe of a New York pizza joint mostly succeeds, but overall the pizza is quite average. Dinner a few hours later at Shigotonin was very good, a very modern Japanese restaurant off-strip with an okay Kaisen chirashi (tasty enough, just short of the hype) and a very good-to-excellent sashimi course. Akami cuts were almost too fat for the sashimi, while the botan ebi were beautiful. Only one hotate was a bit odd but considering how affordable it was, it's hard to complain too much. Sunomomo and also the shishito peppers were also on point.
Dessert at Sweet Mong across the street was just right, with a strawberry matcha cheesecake crepe that was probably a bit overkill, at least calorie-wise. But couldn't let it go to waste!
Other tidbits included the view of Bellagio fountains from the room and Superbowl LVIII decorations at Caesars' Palace.
